SUN BEAMS
/There are many reasons to beam on a sunny Friday in August … in Maine.
Hummingbirds flutter over and around the patio planters.
Sky-blue hydrangeas cascade in a profusion of blooms by the bedroom window.
The veggie garden is beginning to yield.
Lush ripe berries and sunflowers bask on shelves at Mrs. Patton's farm stand.
And hooray! You find a parking slot at the beach.
It’s time to shuck Silver Queen corn — and take an afternoon siesta on the back deck — and watch your grandkids ride boogie boards in the surf at Mothers Beach — and sip a “Dark and Stormy” at sunset, sitting on the rocks at middle beach.
It's time to let photos tell the story, rather than words.
Other than ... Carpe Diem.
